Owned by the Flanders, who have turned their yard and property into a small city with over 2 miles of 7 1/2, 12, and 24 gauge track.
In 1995 Steve and Susan Flanders began the construction of their railroad. This private hobby, which started with a simple circle in their back yard, has grown to over 11,000 feet of 7 1/2″ gauge rail and 5,000 feet of 24″ gauge rail and more than 90 engines and cars in both sizes. And it’s still growing!
S&S Shortline Railroad in Farmington offers a museum and park where people can see and ride on trains of various sizes. The museum features over 90 engines and cars. A 1920s replica of a freight station houses the museum and some visitor facilities. The park also offers miniature golf and a picnic pavilion.
The park boasts over 11,000 feet of 7 1/2″ gauge rail and 5,000 feet of 24″ gauge rail, with engines and cars in both sizes. The 24” gauge train exhibit features a diesel-powered engine, an electric trolley, more than 10 passenger cars, a caboose, a 1914 Model T Rail Bus and a Crown Steam Locomotive.
