The Colorado Live Steamers is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization of people interested in building and operating large scale model railroad equipment. We are located on approximately 120 acres in Byers, CO, about 40 miles east of Denver.
The first 7 ½” gauge loop was completed in June of 1998. To date we have laid approximately 11,000 feet of track with two tunnels and one 102 ft wooden bridge and a second steel truss bridge. The organization’s overall goal is a 2.5 mile, 7 ½” gauge point-to-point mainline railroad.
The railroad will be radio dispatched with ample steaming bays and unloading facilities to accommodate a regional or national meet when completed. Our regularly scheduled work/run days are the 2nd Saturday of the month, and our regularly scheduled run/work days are the 3rd Saturday of the month, both weather permitting – year round.
